The lifestyle of today is such that our mouths will encounter multiple staining agents each and every day such as coffee, black tea, green tea, smoking, red wine, curry…the list goes on. We don’t want you to have to give up the things you love in order to have pearly white teeth!

How long will my teeth whitening  last?
Once your whitening is done properly by our highly experienced dentist the colour will never go back to being as dark as before. Good news? ….Well yes, during your  teeth whitening treatment the gel will whiten and mineralise your tooth structure deeper than just the superficial enamel,  but the staining agents we use each day can bring a superficial stain.  If we use a lot of staining agents this can start to stain our our teeth as quickly as six to twelve months after treatment. But not to worry- all our patients are given a kit to use at home to initially stabilise the colour achieved in the clinic, then the kit is kept and used as and when needed- once or twice a year for forty minutes each time should suffice. If you do not like the thought of doing this yourself it will be our pleasure to invite you once more for another chairside treatment when you need it.

Will teeth whitening  hurt?
There can be some transient sensitivity for a small proportion of patients, but as general rule the answer is NO. We put your safetyy and comfort above all else and so meticulously cover and protect your gums and any sensitive areas of expose dentine. We will also do a hydrating vitamin E lip mask for the duration of the treatment. You will be offered an anti-inflammatory before treatment if we think it may be necessary.*

Will teeth whitening  damage my teeth?
NO. Our Wy10 gel has a patented formula containing enamel-safe and mineral components. Our gel is pH10 and will leave your teeth feeling smoother and shinier at the end of treatment, as opposed to stripping the enamel as other teeth whitening brands will  do due to high acidity.*

How long will my appointment be at Geneva Dental Lounge and do I need to come back?
The appointment should take between 75-90 minutes, and we would like to see you again if you are using the after-treatment home kit in order to take a photo of your beautiful  new white smile. During the chairside treatment you will be offered a selection of films and TV shows to watch on our 3D DVD glasses.

*Be aware of non-dental professionals or inexperienced dental professionals performing your teeth whitening. These are the people who will damage your teeth with strong gels containing no mineral or anti-acidity ingredients or they may burn your gums because your safety is not their first priority.
They may also use cheap materials which contain no active ingredients- these treatments tend to at best dehydrate the teeth giving an initially whiter effect which is lost within 24-48 hours. Beware of ‘too good to be true’ cheap teeth whitening deals.
